Kappa Alpha Order Gamma Iota chapter is committed to giving back to the community that we live in, as well as participating in the nationally sponsored charity MDA, Muscular Dystrophy Association. At San Diego State University the Greek system takes part in sponsoring Philanthropy's to benefit national and local charities. This past Spring Gamma Iota hosted a basketball tournament benefiting MDA. All sororities participated, raising over $1200. Apart from the philanthropy we host, we also participate in other forms of charity. This past year we began a partnership with the San Diego Chapter of the ALS foundation, which helps those with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Kappa Alpha also contributes to the IFC sponsored charity downtown, through the DDA, Designated Driver's Association, which helps offer free rides so people have an alternative to driving drunk. Kappa Alpha Order participates in all sorority sponsored philanthropy's, and won both Alpha Delta Pi's Pool Tournament, and Delta Gamma's Anchor Slam Philanthropy last year.
